Happy Valentine’s Day!

Tango is the most passionate art form ever! Yeah, we might be a little bit biased… whatever! Tango is known in Argentina as “A three minute romance”. Treat yourself with an awesome tango evening this Valentine’s day at Kelly’s! Come to dance at our weekly milonga, and you can enjoy drinks and/or food for a super romantic tango evening with many, many three minute romances. I (Gustavo) am DJing again tonight!

Back at Kelly’s, regularly!

Come dance with us tonight at Kelly’s Retaurant and Bar, located at the corner of Temple and Crown. We’ll be dancing in the back room from 8pm to 11:30pm. Danielle will be DJing! As always, please help us show gratitude to our hosts by purchasing food or a drink. See you there!

Happy New Year!

Come celebrate 2012 dancing with us at Kelly’s, located in the corner of Crown and Temple; we will be moving to a new location soon, so this might be the last milonga we organize there! John will DJ, and as you know he is pretty awesome, so please come and have a drink or food and dance with us!

Alternative Venue tonight, 12/13/2011

Sadly Kelly’s is cancelled tonight, but there will be a milonga at GPSCY on the third floor at 8. Unfortunately, you must be over 21 to get in the building. If you say you are with the tango event, you shouldn’t have to pay a cover. There is a bar downstairs, if you want to grab a beer or a glass of wine. Hope to see some of you there!

Welcome, fall!

What makes a good tango?   Good music is just that, and tango is no exception.  Perhaps the closest popular music genre to classical, there have been times in tango’s history in which it crossed its path with classical music.  The most clear example is the adaptation done by Donato of  Chopin’s etude Op.10 no.3; this is the original piece, played by Valentina Ingoshina:

And Donato’s version, danced by Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes:

Come to Kelly’s tonight and welcome the fall by enjoying what moves your feet and your heart. No cover fee! Please be supportive of Kelly’s, our gracious hosts, by buying food or drinks and being nice to the staff.

John is DJing, so you know the music is guaranteed to be excelent.
Come dance with us!
